Hot Chicken Strip Burgers

Hot Chicken Strips Burger is made using store-bought chicken strips that have been tossed in a spicy Hot style sauce and served on a bun with veggie slaw and pickles.

There are so many wonderful coleslaw mixes on the market right now. In line with the semi-homemade concept, I began with a kale slaw mix composed of kale, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts. You may use whatever coleslaw mix you choose, or you can prepare your own cabbage slaw.

While the chicken is rather hot on its alone, it is beautifully balanced when mixed with coleslaw, pickles, and bread. When you’re assembling your burger, don’t skimp on the coleslaw or the pickles!

Ingredients

12 Chicken Breast Strips, Breaded

Hot Spice Blend:

  • 1 tbsp cayenne
  • pepper
  • 1 tbsp spicy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  •  2 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup butter for frying

For the coleslaw:

  • 2 cups mixed vegetable coleslaw
  • 2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 toasted burger buns
  • Sliced sweet pickle rounds

Chicken Strips Burger Recipe

  1. Bake the chicken strips according to the package directions.
  2. While the chicken strips are baking, make the coleslaw by combining all of the ingredients. Place aside. Combine all of the spice components to make the spice mix. Place aside.
  3. Heat the 1/5 cup oil in a nonstick pan over medium-high heat for a few minutes before the chicken strips are done baking. When the chicken strips are done, place them in a pan with heated oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 3 minutes on each side. When the chicken strips are browned, transfer them to a platter quickly but gently. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add butter to heated oil with caution (*it may spatter, so keep your hands away).

When the butter begins to froth, add the spice mix and rapidly whisk it in. Return the chicken strips to the pan and mix with the sauce to coat. When evenly coated, transfer to a baking sheet.

  1. To make the burger, toast the buns and top with a thick coating of prepared coleslaw. Serve with pickle slices on top of the coleslaw. Add 3 heated chicken pieces and a couple more pickle slices on top.
